There's a very good [article] at OS news which goes into detail on Motorola/Freescale's new dual core G4 design. While having two processors on one chip is certainly an advance, the other goodies they have stuffed onto it are the real performers. The enhanced IO and memory functionality is going to make this a killer product, and I'd certainly buy a server running with one of these.
