Burn baby, burn!

So last night was my first fire dancing class.
No, I'm not kidding.
No, they don't have you work with fire the first day in the class, the whole class has to work up to it, you get to "light up" in the last few classes.
I came into the class 6 weeks into the program, which means I have a lot of catching up to do. Both the instructors were pretty impressed with how well I managed to pick it up and pulled me aside at the end of the class to tell me I had learned almost all of the moves they've taught so far in the one class. So I guess I'm doing fairly well.
The instructors were actually performing later that night at Cirque du Solei event, so they performed for the class as a warm up. That was pretty darn cool, and helped everyone see the payoff for the classes for themselves. The moves are a combination of modern dance and Indian yoga-type stuff, which is pretty interesting. One move taught last night was call "The Flirt" and was explained in terms of turning and sticking your butt out as if to lift the hem of your skirt - hence the name - and Peter and I, the only guys there, REALLY didn't get it without a lot of work.

Some people have asked why I'm doing all of this - triathlons, working on my shooting skills, fire dancing, etc. Why not? At this point in my life, I can.
