For some time I've been looking for ways to embed Flash in applications to use as user interface elements without having to re-implement Flash. It's harder than you'd think once you get to the ActionScript runtime (been there, done that, with Java2D).

I had been thinking about how to turn arbitrary javascript calls inside flash into NSSelectors when Michael McCracken posted [this].

Seems almost all the pieces are in place now. There's no reason you couldn't stuff Flash into your WebView and use it to fire off selectors in your Cocoa code. I just need time and a flash designer to do a proof of concept.

Where is Chris, anyway?

While googling for something completely different, I ran into [this], about the funniest thing I'd seen all week.

On 5 June 1995 an adult male mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) collided with the glass façade of the Natuurmuseum Rotterdam and died. An other drake mallard raped the corpse almost continuously for 75 minutes. Then the author disturbed the scene and secured the dead duck. Dissection showed that the rape-victim indeed was of the male sex. It is concluded that the mallards were engaged in an ‘Attempted Rape Flight’ that resulted in the first described case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard.
